Haiti Benefit Auction
When: March 20th from 7-11 pm
Where: Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro St, Carrboro (across from Weaver Street Market)

There will be a live and silent auction, live music, beer and wine, and food. Come for a night of fun and dancing and bid on some awesome items while supporting our neighbors in Haiti. One of the auction items is a healing session with Susan of Companion Chi. All proceeds benefit Oxfam America's Haiti Relief Fund. Spiritual Essence & Lifestyle Fair
When: April 17th from 10 am - 6 pm
Where: The Martin Building, State Fairgrounds

Come out and meet some wonderful people offering acupuncture, energy healing, skin care, crystals, massage, wellness coaching, jewelry and much more. Puppy Mill Awareness Day
When: May 8th from 11 am - 5 pm
Where: Moore's Square, Downtown Raleigh

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is hosting this event. Special guests include Rescue Ink and Victoria Stilwell (of the TV Show Its Me or the Dog). Susan King of Companion Chi will be offering dog massages for donations. For more information, go to Puppy Mill Awareness Day.

 

Fashion Unchained
When: May 8th starting at 7 pm
Where: Marbles Kids' Museum, Raleigh

The Coalition to Unchain Dogs will be kicking off its inaugural Fashion Unchained event in high style. This charity event has something for everyone - a silent auction, delicious food and drink, and a fabulous fall runway show featuring local celebrities wearing designer fashions from the poshest area boutiques. St. Patrick's Day party
When: March 13th from 12 - 3 pm
Where: Unleashed, 2460 Wycliff Rd (Lake Boone Shopping Center), Raleigh

Bring your canine pals for a fun celebration to include contests such as best hair and musical sit. There will even be a raffle to win some great goodies with all proceeds being donated to CARE for Animals who will also be there with some dogs looking for their forever home. St. Patrick's Day Parade
When: March 13th starting at 12 pm
Where: Raleigh

Fun for the whole family. Some of the area rescue groups will be in the parade, such as Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue.

 

3rd Annual Lance Memorial-Canines for the Cure NADAC Agility Trial
When: March 13 & 14
Where: Pet Behavior Help, Chapel Hill

Yearly agility trial hosted by Agility Addicts Rover Fanatics (AARF) to raise money for the National Canine Cancer Foundation (NCCF). For more information, go to AARF.

 

Eat at Mimi's Cafe & Raise Money for Rescue Animals
When: March 16th from 7 am - 10 pm
Where: Mimis Cafe, 1115 Walnut St, Cary

Enjoy delicious food in a fun atmosphere along with your family & friends while earning funds in support of AniMall Pet Adoption & Outreach Center. Just present the Food, Friends & Fundraising flyer (available at AniMall located in the Cary Towne Center or contact them to have them e-mail you the flyer) to your server & Mimis Cafe will donate 15% from each sale to AniMall. Bark for Life
When: March 20th starting at 9 am
Where: Bunn Middle School

Activities include an In Honor and In Memory walk, booths with information about canine health, food, drinks, and much more. Registration is only $20/dog. All to raise money for the American Cancer Society. For more information, go to Relay for Life.

 

Tails at Twilight
When: March 20th starting at 6 pm
Where: The Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club, Durham

Hosted by the APS of Durham to raise money to support the crucial programs at the Durham County Animal Shelter. In addition, a special portion of the evening will be dedicated to raising much needed funds to install air conditioning in the dog kennels. There will be a silent auction followed by a 3 course dinner & exciting live auction. Tickets are $100 and must be purchased in advance as space is limited. Hurricanes Night for SPCA
When: March 25th
Where: RBC Center

The Canes are taking on the Washington Capitals and the SPCA will be there with several animals looking for forever homes. There will also be in-game promotions and a drawing for raffle prizes. In addition to some of the proceeds going to support the SPCA, SPCA friends and supporters can purchase Canes tickets at a reduced rate. For more information, go to SPCA.

 

Come Get your Llama On!
When: March 26th from 6-10 pm
Where: Sisters Garden, 2400 East Millbrook Rd, Raleigh

Fundraiser for Hummingbird Farm, a 49-acre learning center and inspirational sanctuary where animals, humans and the earth work in partnership. For only $25/person, you can enjoy heavy hors doeuvres and a special showing of the spectacular DVD, Cavalia (starts at 9 pm). There will also be a cash bar. Dress is smart casual. German Shepherd Rescue Poker Run
When: March 27th starting at 8:30 am
Where: Smokin Harley Davidson, 3441 Myer Lee Dr, Winston Salem

Come join bikers from all over the state on a Poker Run to benefit German Shepherd Rescue (GSRA). Riders will start and finish at the Harley Davidson store. There will be breakfast for the riders at 8:30 am. Live music featuring Denny Marion and Nashville Rebound Band starts at noon. The ride finishes at 2 pm where there will be a barbecue, prizes, raffles & lots of fun. GSRA will have an adoption event while the riders are out on the run. $15 rider fee benefits GSRA.

 

Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs
When: March 27th from 9 am - 12 pm
Where: Luddy Park, Youngsville

Calling all dogs. Come and help your people sniff out some treat filled eggs, win some prizes and get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny. You will be helping the SPCA of Franklin County raise some funds for their all important work. For more information, go to SPCA.

 

Valerie Blettner Book Signing
When: March 27th from 4 - 8 pm
Where: Wake Forest Coffee Co., 156 South White St., Wake Forest

2PawsUp rescue invites you to meet author Valerie Blettner who has written books such as Life is Good Now As Told by Floyd and That Dog Won't Hunt!, inspiring stories of animal rescue. In addition to books, there will be other related merchandise available. Proceeds will benefit 2PawsUp to pay medical bills for Chance who had to have hip replacement surgery in early Feb. An evening with Linda Tellington-Jones

Linda Tellington-Jones, founder of TTouch, will speak about and demonstrate the Tellington TTouch methods with Paws4Ever shelter dogs and cats. SAFER Certification Prep. Course
When: April 21st & 22nd
Where: Paws4Ever, 6311 Nicks Rd, Mebane

Free workshop to learn how to help dogs & families affected by breed bans. SAFER is a tool for assessing the probability of future canine aggression. SAFER has helped animal-welfare professionals all over the country identify potential aggression and opportunities for behavior modification. Space is limited, so you must pre-register. Smooches for Pooches
When: April 24th from 6-9 pm
Where: Barley & Vine, Raleigh

Wine tasting and silent auction to benefit foster dogs of Pawfect Match Rescue. Tickets are $10 at the door and includes wine tasting, appetizers and silent auction. $5 raffle tickets are also available for a chance to win a week long stay in the NC mountains and 2 other great prizes. Adoptions at AniMall
Where: Cary Towne Center, Cary

The AniMall Pet Adoption and Outreach Center is a non-profit pet adoption center located at the Cary Towne Center. They provide a central location for animal rescues and the public to interact in a mall setting for the purpose of finding homes for homeless pets. For more information, go to AniMall.

 

ReTails
Where: 1608 N. Market Drive, Raleigh

AnimalKind has opened up the first Thrift Shop in the county to benefit animals in need. Proceeds from the thrift store will benefit the $20 FIX Spay/Neuter financial assistance program. The last Sunday of every month from 12 - 6 pm, everything in the shop is 50% off. For more information, go to AnimalKind.

 

Cause for Paws

Cat Angels Yard Sales

The yard sales held regularly to raise money for Cat Angels Pet Adoptions have gotten so popular that they now have an indoor location for the yard sales just down the road from their adoption facility. Now you can get great deals rain or shine. HSAC Yard Sales
Where: Burlington Outlet Village, near the Hanes Mill Outlet Store, exit 145 off I85/40, Burlington

The Humane Society of Alamance County hosts yard sales every 2nd & 4th Saturday each month from 7 am - 1 pm. They are also looking for donations of gently used items (no clothing please) to sell. For more information, go to HSAC.

 

SPCA Pet Food Pantry
Where: SPCA Curtis Dail Pet Adoption Center (side parking lot)

The SPCA has created a Pet Food Pantry program to provide temporary assistance to people trying to keep their pets. For more information, go to SPCA.

 

SPCA Pet Loss Support Group
Where: SPCA Curtis Dail Pet Adoption Center

The SPCA Pet Loss Support Group welcomes anyone grieving the loss of a pet, regardless of when your pet passed away or where you are in the grieving process. The SPCA Pet Loss Support Group allows you to share with and learn from others who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet too. For more information, go to SPCA.

 

Pet First Aid Classes
