International Homeless Animals' Day
When: August 21st
Where: Unleashed, 2460 Wycliff Rd, Raleigh
C.A.R.E. For Animals is hosting this event in recognition of International Homeless Animals' Day. Bring your dogs out to honor and celebrate those who have their forever homes for some fun filled events, including a silent auction to help raise money for animals in need. SPCA Fur Ball
When: October 3rd
Where: The State Club, Park Alumni Center, NCSU Centennial Campus, Raleigh
SPCA's annual Black Tie fundraising event. Live & silent auctions (you can get an early start on your holiday shopping), heavy hors d'oeuvres, spirits & desserts. Tickets are $125/person with the profits going to support the animals in need. Companion Chi has donated a gift certificate for one Healing Partnership session. For more information, go to SPCA.
Howl-O-Ween Celebration
When: October 23rd
Where: Paws4Ever, 6311 Nicks Rd, Mebane
Paws4Ever's 3rd year commemorating Pit Bull Awareness Day. Fun activities for the whole family with proceeds benefitting Paw4Ever's low-cost spay/neuter program for pit bulls performed at Nicks Road Vet Clinic in Mebane. The Dog Days of Summer - Yappy Hour
When: August 16th from 5 - 7 pm
Where: Carolina Brewery & Grill, 120 Lowes Dr, Pittsboro
Yappy Hour is a time for owners, their children & their furry kids to mix & mingle with new people and their dogs. Enjoy a "fun" raising event to support Chatham Animal Rescue & Education’s mission to promote the health and safety of all dogs & cats in Chatham County. For a $10 donation you will receive a complimentary CARE Yappy Hour t-shirt & a beverage ticket. Children eat free with a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased at the door. The Wake County mobile adoption trailer will be at this event with pets for adoption.
2nd Annual Run for Their Lives & Festival
When: August 28th
Where: Kiwanis Park, Sanford
Benefitting Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA). Dogs, kids, strollers, runners & walkers are all welcome. A great family event - fund for kids, food, raffles & music. The event includes either a 5K race or a 1/2 mile fun walk. $25 registration fee for runners and walkers. For more information, go to CARA.
Music for Fences 2010
When: August 28th with gates opening at 4 pm
Where: Durham Central Park, 534 Foster St, Durham
A concert fundraiser for the Coalition to Unchain Dogs featuring The Mountain Goats. This family friendly event has something for everyone: fabulous music, delicious food & drink, vendor booths, a raffle & activities for children. Bring a blanket and lawn chairs and join the Coalition for a musical night under the stars that you won't want to miss. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Kids under 12 get in FREE. Building a No Kill Community
When: Sept. 25th from 2 - 4 pm
Where: McKimmon Center, 1101 Gorman St, Raleigh
Presented by Nathan Winograd who is the Executive Director of the No Kill Advocacy Center and author of Irreconcilable Differences (there will be a book signing following the presentation). Brought to you by Wake Voice for Animals and Cat Angels Pet Adoptions. During this presentation, you will learn the basics on the No Kill philosophy of animal care and what it takes to become a No Kill community. Schnoctoberfest 2010
When: October 2nd from 12-4 pm
Where: Dogtopia of Cary, 507 James Jackson Ave, Cary
This is NC Schnauzer Rescue's annual FUN and educational dog event and fundraiser. While it is sponsored by our miniature schnauzer rescue group, ALL friendly and healthy dogs are welcome to attend. We will have big prize raffles of a Wii game system & iPod Nano, then tons of other great raffle prizes, gift baskets, etc. Tentative events for the day include a dog wash, costume contest, doggie play time indoors, and many other fun dog events and vendors! Howl-O-Ween Event & Adopt-a-thon
When: October 30th from 11 am - 3 pm
Where: Camp Bow Wow, 1710 Page Road Ext., Durham

5th Annual Walk for Animal Protection
When: November 6th
Where: Southern Village, Chapel Hill
Paws4Ever's annual dog walk event. There will be live music, games, activities for kids, demonstrations, and a leisurely 2 mile course. All proceeds benefit the animals in need. For more information, go to Paws4Ever.

Adoptions at AniMall
Where: Cary Towne Center, Cary
The AniMall Pet Adoption and Outreach Center is a non-profit pet adoption center located at the Cary Towne Center. They provide a central location for animal rescues and the public to interact in a mall setting for the purpose of finding homes for homeless pets. For more information, go to AniMall.

AnimalKind has opened up the first Thrift Shop in the county to benefit animals in need. Proceeds from the thrift store will benefit the $20 FIX Spay/Neuter financial assistance program. Cat Angels Yard Sales

The yard sales held regularly to raise money for Cat Angels Pet Adoptions have gotten so popular that they now have an indoor location for the yard sales just down the road from their adoption facility. Now you can get great deals rain or shine. HSAC Yard Sales
Where: Burlington Outlet Village, near the Hanes Mill Outlet Store, exit 145 off I85/40, Burlington
The Humane Society of Alamance County hosts yard sales every 2nd & 4th Saturday each month from 7 am - 1 pm. They are also looking for donations of gently used items (no clothing please) to sell. For more information, go to HSAC.
SPCA Pet Food Pantry

SPCA Pet Loss Support Group

The SPCA Pet Loss Support Group welcomes anyone grieving the loss of a pet, regardless of when your pet passed away or where you are in the grieving process.
